Installations

Coffee Physics can help support your installation, from initial setup consultation to barista training and onboarding. In order to help with the myriad of things to check off to make sure your equipment installation goes smoothly, here is our installation process at a glance:

  1. Customer Checklist
Make sure you review the water, drain and power recommendations list below. You’ll need to have these ready before we perform your installation. Most of these things should be performed by your general contractor, plumber and electrician.

  2. Site Survey
A Coffee Physics coffee technician will come to your location to inspect your set up to confirm your site’s readiness before scheduling your installation. If they find anything that needs to be done before installation, they’ll let you know. If your site is ready for install, your coffee technician will perform the installation on this visit.

  3. Installation
Once your installation site is deemed ready, your coffee technician will connect water, drain and power. They will also make sure your coffee equipment is functioning properly and answer any questions you may have about your newly installed equipment.

  • Labor to repair faulty parts included, but does not include travel fees.

Customer pre-site survey & installation checklist

  • To protect your coffee equipment, make sure it’s supplied with clean water—free of pipe sediment and chlorine. We recommend installing an in-line water filter. Coffee Physics uses Pentair Everpure carbon filters for installations.

Before installation, have the following ready:

    • 3/8” male compression water shut-off valve, no more than 6 ft from where the machine will be installed.

    • 2” holes drilled through countertop/cabinets (if needed) to run water lines.

    • 3 ft vertical clearance under or near your machine for filter placement.

  • If your espresso machine is plumbed for water, it also needs proper drainage to prevent flooding.

    Before installation, prepare the following:

    • (Residential) 3/4” drain pipe stem at your existing drain for hose connection.

    • (Commercial) Drain cup, no more than 6 ft from your machine, with an air gap to prevent overflow.

    • 2” holes through countertop/cabinets to run up to 6 ft of drain hose (can share holes with water lines).

  • Once water and drain are set—time to fire it up!

    What you'll need:

    • (Residential) A 110V/120V GFCI outlet. Espresso machines draw ~10 amps. A GFCI outlet ensures safety in case of a power spike.

    • (Commercial) A breaker and receptacle to match your machine’s needs. For example, a 208V/25A machine should have a 30A breaker for headroom.

    • Let us know your receptacle type ahead of time. We recommend a locking receptacle (L6-30R). If needed, Coffee Physics can supply a matching cord cap—just tell your tech before install day.
